A mentee that taught her mentor

Created by Bernadette 3 months ago
As is customary at Samaritans when a volunteer moves from one branch to another, they are allocated a mentor to help them settle in and show them the ropes. When Anne joined Cheltenham Samaritans, it was suggested that I become her mentor as I too had moved to Cheltenham from the same branch in Devon. It was a delight to work with Anne but it became clear almost immediately that she was so experienced, so wise and such an excellent listening volunteer, that I had nothing to teach her and everything to learn from her. Moreover, Anne was vivacious, kind and fun. I loved hearing of her travels and adventures and her love for Rob always shone through. When Anne left the branch, she and I lost touch over time, something I now ver much regret. I will always have fond memories of Anne. With love, Berni 1129
